Maniabandha is a village in Baramba block of Cuttack District, Odisha. Shyam Sunder Karan is a Bandha designer who converts the graphical designs on the weft yarns; followed by extensive and skilful process of tying and dyeing. His creation of intricate bandha designs requires evolved artists talent. This unique of tie & dye weaving is a family tradition and the specific skill is passed on from one generation to the other. Shyam Sundar karan says that their family tradition of such handloom is around 600 years old. Around 30 to 35 artisan are working with him .Shyam Sundar Karan have received Sant Kabir Award for his excellent Maniabandha weaving.
